Becoming an Image

 

Becoming an Image is an exhibition of live drawings in an intimate atelier space, following the gradual formation of a performed figure across repeated performances.

Made under the pressure of movement, speech, and time, the drawings do not fix the figure but morph with it. They show its emergence through distortion, repetition, and change.

Welcome into my atelier: public, yet so private.

These drawings emerged live during the series of performances of Der Traurigste Junge der Welt. Shown together for the first time, they open the privacy of process itself: artist and model, repetition, pressure, light, and presence inside a live event.

 

 

A parallel body of work formed week after week inside the play. As the performance developed, so did the drawings. What appears is not a fixed portrait, but a figure taking shape under pressure.

He performs a text about the life model: the exposed body, the borrowed pose, the fear of being used as someone else’s image. I draw within that same tension, with only moments to catch what is already changing.

 

 

One week, the air is soft, the presence is light, the audience on edge, unsure where the boundaries lie between art, acting, reality, and play.

 

Another week, the presence is imposing, the air electric, and the audience becomes part of the play, part of the art.

 

 

As the weeks go by, the figure shifts from one emotional edge to another. The pose may return, but never in the same way. 

 

 

Same poses, different realities. All real. All lived.

The exhibition includes this evolution: Becoming an Image — five drawings of the same pose across five performances, alongside the other live works made during the run.
