コレクション: Longing in Brown Pastels

This exhibition brings together a series of pastel portraits made from life. Each work began in a shared space: a person sitting, the changing light, the limited time, the rhythm of observation, and the attempt to hold something true to that moment.

The portraits are connected by a feeling I can only describe as longing, though it remains difficult to name explicitely.

Brown pastels form both the visual language and the material thread connecting these works. While “pastel colours” are commonly understood as pale, delicate tones, here pastel becomes a medium for depth: for the richness of skin, the warmth of light, the density of shadow, and the atmosphere surrounding each sitter.

More than anything, this exhibition is an invitation to slow down and spend time with individual human beings, one presence at a time.
